A story in Research
For this project, we were presented the unique challenge of designing new covers for books which have been in print, some for more than 10 years, for a highly esteemed and globally recognised author.
The client had transferred publishing rights for her books to Narrative Landscape, and we had to develop a new identity for the books. The simple idea was making ‘something different’.
Knowing the author’s love for Ankara fabric, we decided to reach out to VLISCO, the African print fabric production giant, to select different designs fitting for each book cover.
The next challenge was arranging the texts on the covers in a way that would make them stand out but not add to the already busy nature of the designs.
This particular project was especially fulfilling because there were few changes made to the proposed designs, the client loved them and they were sent over for printing almost immediately. The timeline for all the designs pictured was less than a month.
